Fat Transfer

Fat Transfer

Fat is not your enemy! In fact, fat can be your friend. Fat transfer, or fat grafting, is a procedure in which excess fat is harvested from an unwanted area and replaced somewhere else on your body to create beautiful, soft, natural volume.

Fat transfer to create a youthful look

As previously thought, sagging skin is not simply the result of gravity; it is also about a loss of volume. Anyone who was accused of having a round face when they were younger gets the last laugh when they hit middle age. If you look at an old picture, you looked younger partly because you had more fat in the right places. Dr. Helen Allison uses fat transfer to restore this lost volume strategically. The result is a more youthful, completely natural look to your face, breasts, or body.

Fat grafting

During your fat grafting procedure, Dr. Helen Allison will use gentle liposuction to harvest excess fat from a body area where you have too much. The most common areas from which fat is extracted are:

The benefits of natural fat grafting are that not only are you adding volume – your body is being reshaped and sculpted when harvesting fat cells for transfer. The results can be a dramatic improvement in body appearance.

What body areas can be
enhanced with natural fat transfer?

Once the fat is harvested, it is processed, purified, and prepared for re-injection. Dr. Helen Allison will artfully inject the fat cells into the areas needing enhancement or plumping. Possible placement areas for natural fat transfer include:

In the right patient, a breast augmentation with fat grafting alone may be possible. In general, she uses fat transfer on his breast augmentation and breast reconstruction patients to enhance the appearance of a breast implant by smoothing out any irregularities and/or improve contour in the upper pole.

Fat transfer to the face can be used to fill in fine lines and wrinkles, restore volume to the mid-face/cheeks, fill in dark hollows under the eye, eliminate a sunken appearance around the temples, and plump up the lips.

One of the hottest procedures these days is a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) or buttock augmentation. Fat transfer to the buttocks can increase volume, restore volume that has been lost with age, and change the shape and contour of your butt.

Carefully placed fat can rejuvenate the hands’ look by covering up prominent tendons and veins, restoring a more youthful look. Fat transfer is also thought to improve the quality of the skin on the hands over time.
